nous sommes vivants, nouse les vivants
< LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ >
Apparently I didn't feel comfortable blogging from my laptop. Setting up my desktop computers and contracting for my own internet service acted as the deciding milepost, at which I finally, and suddenly, felt it was time to blog again.
Or perhaps some of you would believe I subliminally waited until I felt a certain security.
We spent the last 7 weeks as nomadic as ever. We bought a Honda Odyssey (minivan!?!) before we returned to the US on July 3rd.
We drove it from Phoenix to northern California for the CrossFit Games.
We've driven more than 10,000 miles since July 3rd. We drove from northern California to Wichita Falls, Texas, and back to San Diego, and back to Texas, and back to San Diego, and back to Texas, and now back to Arizona.
We're staying in Arizona.
The last seven weeks were eventful and wild. The Games were harsh on me. We rented a house in Wichita Falls; and we withdrew from what would have been a fantastic apprenticeship as a strength trainer, but a disastrous business relationship.
We're preferring autonomy, independence, and the opportunity to live with my grandmother, who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
Most strangely of all, I'm back in the only place that has ever resembled a home to me. I'd moved more than 30 times before I was 30 years old, but for nearly four years I lived in this house while I attended (with nomadic interruptions) high school.
Tash and I are absolutely thrilled to be (back) in the USA. Life is very, very good.

* We've spent over $1800 on gas.
We saw gas as low as $3.43 per gallon (northern Texas on state highway 278 east of Amarillo) and as high as $4.79 (multiple locations in California.)
